The Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructures, Abdelkader Djellaoui, assured, Monday, that the modernization and duplication works of several sections of the mining rail line is, as well as related national roads, advance at a sustained pace and will be received within the fixed deadlines. As a work and inspection visit to the wilayas of Souk Ahras and Guelma, Minister Confirmed that the Oued Kebrit-Dréa section, with a length of 30 km, crossing the wilaya of Souk Ahras as part of the Annaba-Blue El-Hadba (Tébessa) line modernization project on 422 km, will be completed before the end of next December.
“The advancement of the work is rapid, which makes it possible to consider reception before contractual deadlines,” said Djellaoui during his visit to the site of the platform of the channels of the commune of Yesle.
The Minister recalled the strategic importance of this line for the transport and export of minerals, as part of the integrated phosphate mega-project.
During his visit to Oued Damous, a commune of Oued Kebrit, he supervised the work of the railroad track and insisted on the need to mobilize more means to respect the deadlines. In parallel, the minister inspected the duplication work on the national road (RN) n ° 16 on the Souk Ahras – Mechroha segment (17 km), a project which should be delivered before the end of the second half of 2026. He urged companies to strengthen the teams and equipment to hold the deadlines.
In Guelma, the minister announced that the Annaba – Bouchegouf section, 54 km long and entrusted to the Cosider public company, will be received before the end of 2025.
“The company is committed to completing all the work by the end of the year. This is a good indicator for the rest of the project, “he said, on the sidelines of the Boukemouza tunnel inspection (commune of Ouled Fragha).
Mr. Djellaoui gave strict instructions to the National Agency for Studies and Monitoring of the Realization of Rail Investments (ANESRIF) and to project owners in order to accelerate the rhythm of the sites.
He reaffirmed that the completion of the mining line is, subdivided into four sections out of a total of 422 km, “will play a crucial role in the transport of phosphate and derivative products”, while allowing to increase the speed of trains and facilitate both the transport of travelers and that of goods.
The Minister also pointed out the delays noted on other road projects, including the duplication of the RN20 connecting Guelma to Constantine (46 km, 11 lots) and that of the RN16 between Annaba and Souk Ahras via Guelma (42 km, 2 lots), whose projects accuse, according to him, “an unsatisfactory rhythm”.
He announced the holding, in the week, of a technical meeting bringing together all the parties concerned to adopt urgent recovery measures and give a new impetus to these suffering projects.
These field visits, which also concern the wilayas of El-Tarf and Annaba, are part of a close monitoring strategy of the major infrastructure projects, considered structuring for the national economy.
“The highest authorities in the country are very close to this integrated megaproject of phosphate, which must help strengthen the country’s logistical capacities and support exports,” concluded the minister.
