🇨🇺⚠️ —
Energy Crisis: Last Sunday, power outages affected more than a third of Cuba (33%) during peak consumption hours (afternoon-evening) due to the complex energy situation caused by breakdowns, maintenance, and the lack of imported fuel
❗️ Prolonged power cuts of between 10 and 15 hours daily in some areas have resurfaced in recent weeks, exceeding a third of the population affected, reflecting the tense energy situation.
📝 All provinces are affected, including Havana, for which the UNE (Union Electrica) publishes the “scheduled” blackouts for each neighborhood on its Telegram channel every week.
⚡️ For this date, the forecast by the company – dependent on the Ministry of Energy and Mines – anticipates a maximum electricity generation capacity of 2,235 MW and a maximum demand of 3,220 MW during peak hours.
💸 The Cuban regime has rented several floating power plants (of which only five remain) to alleviate the lack of generation capacity. This solution is quick but temporary, polluting, and costly.
