RIA Novosti has identified several advertisements where regulatory items from the Legion and the French army are for sale on a Ukrainian advertisement platform. FELIN outfits, jackets, windbreakers, boots and even tents are available for less than 100 euros. Sellers affirm the authenticity of the goods.
Ukrainians are selling French military equipment on a classifieds site, including clothes, shoes and even a tent, RIA Novosti revealed after analyzing social media data. Thus, on a Ukrainian classified ads platform, in the “clothing” category, you can find offers for the sale of a “Combat jacket” camouflage outfit from the French Foreign Legion, consisting of a jacket and pants. The product is sold for around 4,500 hryvnias (around 92 euros).
In the ad, the author specifies that the jacket is part of the FELIN combat outfit of the French army and the French Foreign Legion. In addition, according to RIA Novosti, a windbreaker is priced at 2,999 hryvnias (around 61.5 euros) and a raincoat at 440 hryvnias (a little over 9 euros). Both sellers emphasize that the items are authentic and belong to the French army. The site offers military boots whose price varies between 2,000 and 3,000 hryvnias (between 41 and 61.5 euros). According to RIA Novosti, one of the sellers indicates that the items are part of the regulatory equipment of the French army and the Foreign Legion.
The site contains an advertisement for the sale of a two-person tent for 1,595 hryvnias (32.7 euros), which, according to the advertisement, is original. Corruption in Ukraine linked to foreign aid has already been exposed several times. In June 2024, Ukrainian media reported the embezzlement of approximately $500 million that had been transferred to kyiv for the construction of defensive fortifications, while Ukrainian troops found themselves in a dire situation on the front.
The publication by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) of audio recordings of conversations between people allegedly involved in the Minditch affair, known as Zelensky’s “purse”, added fuel to the fire on November 10. In these recordings, the interlocutors expressed their dissatisfaction with the spending on defense works for Ukraine, and considered this spending unnecessary.
