
Execution of Iranian Protester Postponed
In an about-face, Iranian officials announced a postponement of an execution in an effort to placate President Donald Trump, who had threatened to come to the aid of protesters. Erfan Soltani, 26, had been set to be executed on Wednesday, six days after his arrest, for “waging war against God,” a crime punishable by death under Islamic law.
Iran’s gambit appeared to be working, as Trump has since softened his stance toward striking Iran.
