Making Algeria a regional industrial and technological hub
Cevital and the Chinese giant Haier join forces for an industrial joint venture in Algeria
The Chinese giant of household appliances and technological products, Haier and the private Algerian group Cevital, specializing in agri-food, logistics and industry, concluded a strategic partnership on Thursday in Algiers.
“This partnership marks the birth of an unprecedented industrial joint venture in Algeria, opening a new era of economic, technological and sustainable cooperation between Algeria and China,” indicated the Chinese giant Haier in a press release published on LinkedIn.
Noting that the partnership signing ceremony took place at the International Conference Center (CIC) in Algiers, under the patronage of the Ministry of Industry, and in the presence of the Council for Algerian Economic Renewal (CREA).
This partnership, continued the same source, represents an alliance based on trust and performance, a commitment to the transfer of know-how and the training of local talents and, a common vision to make Algeria a regional industrial and technological hub. Reaffirming its ambition to innovate, produce locally and actively contribute to national industrial sovereignty.
As a reminder, Cevital and Haier have already signed an agreement in July 2024 for the production of a wide range of household appliances at the Samha industrial complex, a subsidiary of the Cevital group, located in Guedjel in Sétif where appliances from the French brand Brandt are already produced. The factory in Samha, Sétif, is the result of an investment of 500 million euros by the Cevital group. The factory has all the assets to realize the ambitions of Haier and Cevital which, through its subsidiary Samha, aims to conquer more market share both nationally and regionally and internationally.
Under the terms of the agreement, Samha will become the official representative of Haier in Algeria. The company will manufacture several brand products, including refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, televisions, air conditioners, cookers, cooking trios, water heaters and boilers, it was reported. Noting that the alliance with Haier would make it possible to meet the expectations of Algerian customers looking for premium products, with high-end design and at the cutting edge of technology.
By combining Haier’s technological expertise with Samha’s cutting-edge production capabilities, it becomes possible to locally produce household appliances that combine innovation, reliability, durability and performance with the best value for money, the Cevital subsidiary said. Stating that this partnership aims to enable Cevital to strengthen its position in the household appliances market in the region. Haier devices manufactured in Algeria will respect international standards and will be intended for both the local market and export.
