“Financing one million projects and creating two million jobs in twenty years”

On a working and inspection visit to the wilaya of Annaba, in the east of the country, the general director of the National Microcredit Management Agency (ANGEM), Souad Ben Djamil declared, the day before yesterday Tuesday, that in twenty years since its creation, ANGEM has financed more than a million projects, including 18,000 projects paid in 2024 and that rural women and housewives have benefited from financing of their projects up to 50%, or half of the budget planned as part of the socio-economic development outlined by the State.
At the Place de la Révolution in the wilaya of Annaba, where the general director of ANGEM, Souad Ben Djamil, was on an official work trip, the latter revealed, during the inauguration ceremony of the Regional Small Trades Fair, organized the day before yesterday Tuesday, that “one million projects have been financed by its system since its creation in 2005, generating more than two million jobs across the entire country, and that only 18,000 projects were sponsored in 2024, among them, 50% of the projects financed, or half, having concerned rural women and housewives,” revealed the first manager at ANGEM the day before yesterday.
According to the latter, “this great enthusiasm among rural women and those at home for financing via ANGEM is the fruit of the relevant policy of the country’s high authorities towards women because of their important role in the proliferation of civil society and in the strengthening of the national economy,” said the head of ANGEM.
Present at the inauguration ceremony of the Regional Small Trades Fair, alongside the wali, Abdelkrim Lamouri, the director of ANGEM stressed in front of the many present at the Place de la Révolution in the city center of Annaba, that the financing of projects for the benefit of rural women and those at home is necessary and a duty in the management and financing policy at ANGEM, it gets straight to the point in the context of socio-economic development and the empowerment of women, in particular rural.
Ben Djamil indicated that the ANGEM system made it possible to add economic and social value to these projects, thus contributing to improving the income of beneficiaries, allowing them to develop their skills and strengthening their contribution to the local economy. The first official at ANGEM level emphasized that 18,000 projects linked to different economic sectors, notably traditional activities and crafts, were financed, in 2024, within the framework of the ANGEM system, thus contributing to strengthening economic and social development and supporting the entrepreneurial spirit among young people and women in the different wilayas.
Souad Ben Djamil also underlined that more than a million projects have been financed by the Agency since its creation in 2005, before affirming the continued support and accompaniment of those who wish to enter the world of entrepreneurship, in order to guarantee the sustainability of the projects and the increase in their productivity.
Ben Djamil also indicated that the Agency “will continue to work to expand the base of beneficiaries by focusing on innovative projects and promising areas, while supporting young people and women by allowing them to actively participate in national economic development, thus strengthening the contribution of microcredit to the achievement of a sustainable and diversified economy. It should be remembered that the regional small trades fair, organized at the Place de la Révolution in Annaba, brought together around forty women who benefited from funding for these projects.
