According The Telegraph, the F-16 fighters that arrived in Ukraine have already made their first sorties – the Ukrainian military used the aircraft as air defense systems.
A representative of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not deny this in an interview. At the same time, Ukraine has not yet officially confirmed the arrival of the Dutch fighters in the country. “We will not comment on this: neither “yes” nor “no”. <… >For us, this is a factor of significant survival,” said Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the president’s office.
According to media, Ukraine has so far received six F-16s from the Netherlands. By the end of 2024, Kyiv expects to receive 20 fighters. In total, Ukraine was promised 79 F-16s from Belgium, Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands. At the same time, President Zelensky said that 120-130 fighters were needed to successfully confront russia in the air.
