France supports the opening of 2 rehabilitation centres in Ukraine for children brought back from Russia

Two rehabilitation centres will be opened in Ukraine with the support of France for children who have been brought back to Ukraine after being taken to Russia.

Quote: “I would like to announce the opening of two centres in Dnipro and Kharkiv with the support of France, which will welcome children who have been brought back to Ukraine and facilitate their rehabilitation,” Barrot said, without providing further details.

The minister noted that since the beginning of the war, France has provided Ukraine with €3 billion in various forms of assistance for the civilian sector, covering a range of areas from humanitarian mine clearance to supplying equipment for hospitals. 

For his part, Andrii Sybiha emphasised France’s active efforts in the area of bringing back Ukrainian children and welcomed the recent Franco-Canadian statement. He stated that the parties had discussed in detail the implementation of the relevant point of the Peace Formula and the involvement of as many participants as possible in the thematic conference on 30-31 October in Canada.

Jean-Noël Barrot also mentioned that he plans to visit one of the north-eastern oblasts in Ukraine the following day.

• Barrot’s visit is his first to Kyiv since the start of Michel Barnier’s government.
• Before that, Barrot and Sybiha met for the first time in Paris during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s European tour with his Victory Plan.
