Global push launched to give Trump a Nobel for forcing Hamas to free last living hostage
In Washington, US House Speaker Mike Johnson and Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana have launched a coordinated campaign to rally parliamentary leaders worldwide behind nominating President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. They’ve already signed a joint letter to the Nobel Committee as the opening shot of the effort.
Johnson said he is “proud” to work with Ohana to recruit speakers and presidents of parliaments to back Trump, arguing that generations have dreamed of Middle East peace “and now President Trump has delivered it,” crediting him with securing a ceasefire, a framework for wider regional peace, and the release of all remaining living Israeli hostages from Hamas captivity.
Ohana, speaking at the Knesset and later on Capitol Hill, said there is “not a single person in the world who has done more than Trump for peace around the world in the past year,” stressing that Trump not only brokered the Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal but also built on the Abraham Accords and a hard line on Iran to reshape the regional map in Israel’s favor.
