IATF 2025, l’édition de tous les records – Le Jeune Indépendant

Over $ 48 billion in transactions: IATF 2025, edition of all records

An edition that has exceeded all forecasts.

The balance sheet of transactions at the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) has exceeded all forecasts. Contracts with a total value of $ 48.3 billion was signed, against 44 billion initially expected. Algeria has distinguished itself by concluding agreements representing $ 11.4 billion, or 23.6 % of the overall volume. Additional commitments, estimated at $ 11.6 billion, should soon be finalized.

The results of this edition were presented this Wednesday by Gainnora Sanamawe, director of transactions within Afreximbank. The edition organized in Algiers marked a historic turning point. The objectives set by the organizers have been widely exceeded, confirming the central place of the IATF in the promotion of intra-African trade and concluded strategic partnerships.

From the first days, the participation of the leaders set the tone. No less than 20 heads of state and government attended the event, a record in the history of this continental demonstration. This high-level political presence underlined the will of African countries to strengthen their economic cooperation and accelerate the implementation of the African continental free trade area (ZLECAF).

Regarding the exhibitors, the IATF 2025 also crossed a CAP. While the initial objective was 2,000 companies, 2,148 exhibitors took part in the Fair, representing a wide diversity of strategic sectors ranging from agro-industry to technology, via energy and services.

The Pan -African dimension of the event was illustrated by an increased presence of the countries of the continent. If 40 nations were expected, 49 African countries installed national pavilions, thus strengthening the visibility of their respective economies.

If the organizers had planned four special days, the program finally counted 9, making it possible to highlight specific countries and themes with reinforced visibility. The opening of this major event was not to be outdone. With a forecast of 75 participating countries, the counter reached 132 nations from Africa but also other continents, confirming the world attraction of the fair and its role as an essential platform for investors.

Participants who came for trade were also present in number. The objective set at 750 has been widely exceeded with nearly 1,000 participants identified.

But it is also the participation of the public that will remain in the annals. The organizers were tabling on 35,000 professional visitors, but thanks to the mobilization capacity of Algeria, 112,000 people crossed the doors of Safex, a historic record. For the organizers, this success is the realization of a project imagined in 1963 by the founding fathers of the organization of African unity, which dreamed of seeing a large Pan -African fair emerge. More than 60 years later, the IATF 2025, carried by Algeria and under the chairmanship of the Advisory Council provided by Olusegun Obasanjo, came to give life to this vision.
