Attached is the full statement of the Chief of the General Staff: “We are entering two weeks of significant days here. Holocaust Remembrance Day, then Memorial Day and Independence Day a week later. We are in a year with many casualties in the IDF, with many citizens killed in these events, with great responsibility as an army. There is a lot to remember and learn with our eyes on the future, about how we strengthen ourselves from here onward and also with an understanding that the price we paid, combined with the learning process, is a price we must be prepared to pay to exist here going forward, so that those around us will understand the great determination we have to be here. The IDF is operating in many arenas – in the North, South, Judea and Samaria, it is with ground forces; and we are also operating farther afield and in many other ways. We are operating in many arenas, we have many more missions ahead of us. It requires patience, we will rotate, we will rest, we will return refreshed personnel. But we will persevere with a strong spirit that I receive very clearly from you. We will maintain our high determination, both national and military determination, and with these things I believe that we will ultimately achieve the right results.
We, I mean the State of Israel, with a lot of work by the IDF, by the Manpower Directorate (J1), invest huge sums of money into taking care of the reservists. A lot of it was given out this week, and it’s meant to take care of the people, and it’s meant to take care of them going forward, and it’s meant to take care of people who’ve also lost their place of employment. And I’m telling you, bring existing issues to our attention and we will address them – whether it is issues with employers or legislation. It is very very important. We have an obligation to the people who left their homes on October 7th. We have an obligation to take care of them, to pay them back, to reward, recognize and appreciate them – in earnest.”
