Inauguration et inspection de projets stratégiques – Le Jeune Indépendant


By carrying out yesterday to the commissioning of the El Mohammadia tunnel and the inspection of a strategic project in Zahana, the Ministers of Transport and Public Works, respectively Said Sayoud and Lakhdar Rekhroukh, launched a key step in the modernization of the Mascara road network. This visit made it possible to note the advancement of structuring projects, to announce concrete measures in favor of the transport sector, and to strengthen the security of the mobility of citizens.

As part of this ministerial visit, the first stage led the two ministers to the commune of Zahana, where they inspected the construction site for an art work on the RN4, at the crossroads with the East-West motorway. This project is considered strategic, because it aims to improve the road network of the region and streamline traffic on this nerve axis of the country.

They then went to Mohammadia to proceed with the official commissioning of the new tunnel, replacing an old level crossing. Located at the mileage point 184, at the entrance to the city, the book aims to improve traffic fluidity, reduce accidents and remove an urban black point.

Directed by the Cosider company, in coordination with a design office and under the supervision of the anesrif, it is part of a national program aimed at eliminating 78 level passages, 56 of which are already under construction on the Algiers-Oran line.

The Minister of Transport praised the dynamics that the wilaya knows, saying that Mascara benefits from a sustained pace of development, like many regions of the country. He insisted on the importance of field visits, dialogue with local actors and concrete decisions to strengthen this dynamic.

For its part, the Minister of Public Works, Lakhdar Rekhroukh, stressed that the follow -up of works, both road and rail, is a priority to guarantee their sustainability and ensure the security of citizens.

In the rest of the program, two presentations were submitted to the ministers to draw up an inventory of infrastructure. The Director of Public Works explained the situation of the road network and art structures, the maintenance programs for 2026, and the results of projects from 2020 to 2025. He also mentioned future needs, including the development of the airport and the improvement of strategic axes.

The Director of Transports of the Wilaya presented, through a video medium, an analysis of the sector, namely urban and suburban transport, state of road stations, freight transport activity, rail network (notably the Mascara-Saïda line and crossings in Mohammadia), as well as the situation of Ghriss airport and training needs.

Fiat Doblo for taxi drivers

As an extension of the visit, two Fiat Doblo vehicles were given to taxi drivers as part of an agreement between the Ministry and Fiat Algeria, providing for the allocation of 50 vehicles per month for the renewal of the urban park.

Among the measures announced, there are 350 exceptional authorizations for collective taxis, 10 additional buses for the local public transport company, and the upcoming opening of domestic flights from Ghriss airport, as soon as the new domestic air transport company entry.

Finally, on the rail aspect, the minister indicated that 12 coradia trains were put in service out of 17, the other five being in maintenance. He indicated that the rail connection with the South is a priority axis. This is an essential condition for a balanced development of the national territory.

This ministerial visit was an opportunity to inaugurate, in this wilaya, another major project. This is the first tranche of the double-track penetrating project to the East-West motorway. This first tranche extends from the crossroads of the city of Hacine to the point of connection with the east-west motorway in the town of GIS, over a distance of 15 km. Note that the global project for carrying out the penetrant between Mascara and the East-West highway extends over a total distance of 43 km and is part of the centralized sectoral program.
