The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, held bilateral talks with several officials at the headquarters of the United Nations Office in Vienna, at the start of the working visit he carried out in Austria. This was stated in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In this context, Mr. Attaf met with the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Dennis Thatchaichawalit, with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency ( IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi and with the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), Robert Floyd, the statement said.

“The talks with the head of the UNODC which took place in the presence of the heads of departments of this UN body, focused on the state of cooperation relations in areas relating to the fight against drugs, organized crime and the scourge of terrorism, in addition to matters relating to the recovery of looted funds.

In this context, the minister “emphasized the importance of redoubled efforts in the face of the challenges inherent to narcotics and their relationship with organized crime and the financing of terrorism.”

The minister noted, in this regard, Algeria’s colossal efforts in the fight against attempts to flood it with cannabis, the most widespread narcotic on the African continent, according to successive UNODC world reports. -he specified in the press release.
