The excellence of the Algerian school.
Algeria shone on the international scene by winning three medals during the International Youth Robot Competition (Iyrc 2025), organized on August 5 and 6 in South Korea. This prestigious competition brought together more than 30 countries around innovative robotics and artificial intelligence projects.
“Algeria participated in the international youth competition in robotics and artificial intelligence (IYRC 2025), organized in South Korea on August 5 and 6, during which the national team won three world medals,” said a statement from the Ministry of Education.
This is “the gold medal (1st place) for the Medicart project, an intelligent robot offering advanced solutions in the field of health care thanks to computer vision”, “the silver medal (2nd place) for the Ecosort project, an intelligent ecological robot allowing the automatic sorting of waste and representing a model of environmental sustainability”, and “the bronze medal (3rd place) Smart Zoo, an intelligent internet system of objects for the management of animals ”.
“The excellence of our students in this event, which has brought together more than 30 countries, as well as their representation of Algeria with honorable results reflect the spirit of innovation and competence which is full of the Algerian School,” added the same source.
On this occasion, the Ministry of National Education expresses “its deep pride for this qualitative feat, reaffirming its commitment to continue the support and encouragement of students participating in national, regional and international scientific competitions, because convinced of the importance of investing in young people to build a quality school”.
Following this victory and the obtaining with brilliantly of these medals, “the Minister of National Education congratulates the members of the participating team, wishing them more success in international competitions, while calling on all scientific clubs to redouble their efforts to honor Algeria during the various national, regional and international deadlines, concluded the press release.
It should be remembered that in 2020, the Algerian candidates had won the gold medal for the international competition for the first time. On this occasion, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, had honored the young Algerian winners who represented Algeria in this international competition, marked by the participation of more than 500 children from fifteen countries.
President Tebboune then congratulated the three young high school students from the wilaya of Sétif, Nazim Assefrane and Mohamed-Amine Atoui, the young Younès Abdessami, only 15, a student in a program of programming and robotics. The winners had been awarded for the development of an intelligent farm project managing both breeding and agriculture.
