Iran’s Recruitment Texts Hit Israeli Phones, Cyber Directorate Issues Urgent Warning
Israel’s National Cyber Directorate says many Israelis have been hit with English-language SMS messages trying to lure recipients into “cooperation with Iranian elements,” stressing it’s a malicious campaign meant to mislead and spark panic.
The guidance is simple: ignore it completely, do not reply, and do not contact the sender. Block the number, mark it as spam, and do not forward the message, even “to warn others,” because that only spreads it further. If anything looks suspicious, report it to the Directorate’s hotline 119.
The messaging fits a familiar Iranian playbook: mass outreach designed to pull targets off-platform, often toward Telegram and similar channels, wrapped in recruitment language like “competitive salary” and “full security.”
