Israel Tracks New Leads On Fallen Hostage Ran Gvili In Gaza

Israeli security officials say they now hold concrete indications of where the remains of Staff Sgt. Maj. Ran Gvili, the last fallen hostage still held in Gaza, are located, with intelligence pointing to the Zeitoun area of Gaza City. Intelligence teams have been cross-checking the new information with forces operating on the ground.

According to the emerging picture, the leads relate to potential burial sites tied to Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the terror group that abducted Ran Gvili on October 7. His captors are believed to still be alive, and Israel has already conducted initial field checks based on the intelligence.

Jerusalem has delivered a clear message to mediators: there will be no shift to the next phase of the Gaza arrangement until Ran Gvili is brought home for burial in Israel. The stance hardened after Islamic Jihad falsely claimed it had already transferred all hostages it once held.

Ran Gvili, a Yassam Negev police commando from Meitar, sprinted into the battle around Alumim on October 7, rescuing close to 100 civilians and killing multiple terrorists before being fatally wounded and dragged into Gaza. His body has been held ever since, making him the last fallen hostage remaining in the Strip.
