In a rare scene on Syrian soil, protesters in the Druze city of Suwayda were filmed this week holding Israeli flags and pictures of Prime Minister Netanyahu in the city center, publicly thanking Israel and Druze in Israel for their support.
The rally comes after months of deadly clashes and persecution of the Druze minority in southern Syria, during which Israel has quietly funneled humanitarian aid and, according to multiple reports, carried out strikes to protect Druze communities from hostile militias and regime-aligned forces.
