May 19, 1956 remains a witness to the high degree of political consciousness of Algerian students during the war of national liberation.

These brave students who sacrificed everything to adhere to the spirit and letter of the revolution of November 1954 and confirm their political and armed commitment for the total independence of Algeria.

This generation of May 19, 1956 which was in perfect symbiosis with the popular citizen dimension of deep Algeria will remain for eternity in the collective memory of the Algerian people who expressed their gratitude and respect and high consideration to them.

It is also rightly so that this day was proclaimed national student day.

I take this opportunity to renew my admiration and militant respect for the role and commitment of this generation of patriotic students who with courage and dignity were at the forefront of the noble student fight inscribed in golden letters in the history of the ‘Algeria.

The commemoration of May 19 this year comes at a time when Algeria is going through a new historical, political, economic, social, cultural and security phase and characterized essentially by the hand extended by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to young people and to students to open a new page making this category a main ally, a conscious and dynamic partner in the process of development and global transformation and the renewal of our dear Algeria and this in a national spirit of effective conscious and complementary participation far from all spirit of distrust and heartbreak.

Underlining this once again with gratitude, the President of the Republic continues to proclaim and concretize on the ground his sincere consideration for youth and students, far from any paternalism and regimentation, making them a privileged ally, as the main architects of change, insisting on their real involvement in political, economic, social, cultural and security action and so that they make their contribution to the realization of the various development projects in the country.

History will record that the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune has clearly demonstrated his commitment to preparing the next generation and handing over the torch to youth by making them a conscious and dynamic partner in the process of development, transformation and renewal. of our dear Algeria and this in a spirit of conscious participation, of generational complementarity far from any spirit of distrust and heartbreak

With this presidential support, young people and students must in their interest continue to be at the forefront of the civic and popular dynamic of the builders of the new Algeria and respond to the outstretched hand of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to consolidate national stability, the sustainability of strong and transparent institutions guided by principles of good governance by enshrining the rule of law, the enjoyment of human rights and the strengthening of political and especially economic sovereignty.

On September 7, the Algerian people are called to participate in the early presidential election.

We will have to translate citizens’ expectations and aspirations into concrete actions by participating massively and with full responsibility in the success of the presidential elections through the victory of democracy and to be an integral part of the ongoing process of a new, stable, united and strong Algeria.

In conclusion, I am convinced that the youth and students of my country, as worthy representatives of the student generation of May 19, 1956, will fulfill their civic and civic duty on September 7, 2024 by participating massively in the vote, thus expressing their loyalty and civic fidelity and attachment. to the revolution of November 1954 which gave sovereignty to the people and allowed us to democratically promote the voice of the sovereign people and the expression of their popular contribution.
