🚨🇮🇷 JUST IN: At Least 12,000 People, Possibly as Many as 20,000 Killed in Iran – CBS
Information now trickling out of Iran suggests the regime’s crackdown on more than two weeks of nationwide anti-government protests may be far deadlier than previously reported. With limited phone access partially restored, two sources — including one inside Iran — told CBS News that at least 12,000 people may have been killed, with the true number possibly reaching 20,000.
The scale of the bloodshed remains obscured by design. Iran’s rulers imposed a near-total internet and communications blackout for five days, making independent verification nearly impossible. While some Iranians were briefly able to place calls abroad, incoming calls into Iran were still blocked, underscoring how tightly the regime is controlling information.
Even official Western assessments hint at a much higher toll. Britain’s foreign secretary told Parliament that the U.K. believes around 2,000 people have already been killed — and warned the final number is likely to be “significantly higher.” The gap between estimates reflects not confusion, but concealment: a regime working aggressively to hide the true cost of its violence against its own people.
