“The AfDB is ready to support Algeria in financing and supporting its strategic projects”

Sidi Ould Tah, President of the ADB Group:

The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, Sidi Ould Tah, expressed, yesterday Monday in Algiers, the availability of the institution to assist Algeria in financing and supporting its strategic projects, highlighting the country’s promising experience in the exploitation and transformation of hydrocarbons, the desalination of seawater, and the development of infrastructure, and reiterated the ADB’s desire to promote strategic and critical mineral resources to on a local and continental scale, while highlighting the strong support provided by Algeria to the African Development Bank.

Welcoming, in passing, the vision of development of Algeria under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, highlighting the economic and social progress achieved, as well as the major regional role of the country in Africa.

It was during a meeting with the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mohamed Arkab, in the presence of the Secretary of State for Mines, Karima Tafer, as well as several executives of the ministry, during which, indicated a press release from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, the two parties examined the ways of strengthening cooperation between Algeria and the ADB, particularly in priority sectors such as the development of the oil and gas industries, the valorization and transformation of resources mining, seawater desalination projects, as well as financing and support for structuring projects with a continental dimension.

Presenting the sector’s development programs, notably affecting the exploration, development and processing of hydrocarbons, the valorization of mineral resources, processing industry projects, major phosphate exploitation and processing projects, and the efforts made by Algeria to strengthen its capacities in terms of desalination, Mohamed Arkab recalled Algeria’s constant desire to promote African-African cooperation in the field of sustainable energy and the development of production capacities and regional interconnections.

Reaffirming Algeria’s availability to share its experience in the exploration and processing of hydrocarbons, the distribution of LPG at the continental level, geological studies, training, and the management of major projects, the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, on the occasion, underlined the importance of strengthening the technical partnership and the exchange of expertise between Algeria and the ADB to support the implementation of major energy and mining projects.
