La CNAS lance une campagne d’explication   – Le Jeune Indépendant

The National Social Insurance Fund for Salaried Workers (Cnas National Social Security Fund) launched, on August 5, a vast national campaign of explanation and awareness around the new provisions of the maternity leave provided by law 25-08 recently promulgated.

This initiative, which is part of a citizen approach, aims to inform the working mothers of their updated social rights, in particular the extension of maternity leave to 150 consecutive days fully compensated.

Organized at the CNAS agencies, in several wilayas in the country, this campaign started on August 5 and will end today. During these three days, CNAS agents, supported by lawyers, consulting doctors and social law specialists, were mobilized to explain in detail the novelties introduced by this reform and answer public questions.

Specialized teams will be mobilized to welcome citizens, answer their questions and support them in the constitution of files relating to new provisions on maternity leave.

During these open days, we will offer personalized support to the mothers concerned in order to facilitate administrative procedures. The agents will focus on the deadlines to be observed for the filing of medical files, the necessary supporting documents, as well as the methods for calculating daily allowances.

This operation is part of the will of the public authorities to strengthen proximity communication with the social insured people, ensuring the good application of the new legal provisions. The CNAS thus invites all employees, employers and representatives of works councils to participate in these information days.

In its press release, the CNAS specifies that this reform testifies to the commitment of the public authorities to support social and health developments through a flexible and equitable legislative framework, meeting the needs of the family, devoting the principle of social equity and affirming support for maternity as a fundamental right guaranteed by the Constitution and the laws of the Republic.

To facilitate access to information, the CNAS has set up a green number (30-10) as well as a digital platform dedicated to the new law.

The CNAS recalled that law n ° 25-08 of July 19, 2025, modifying and supplementing law n ° 83-11 relating to social insurance, introduced major advances in terms of maternity protection.

Now and according to the same source, salaried mothers benefit from maternity leave of 150 consecutive days, entirely compensated up to 100% of the reference daily salary. This leave will not undergo any reduction in the event of premature delivery, and it may start 42 days before the scheduled delivery date.

The new legislation also provides extensions of maternity leave in specific cases. If the newborn has a malformation, a handicap or a serious illness requiring continuous medical care, the mother may request an additional 50-day extension, also 100%remunerated. A second extension of 165 days may be granted if the child’s state of health requires it, upon presentation of a new medical file.
