Algeria and Mauritania are examining means of bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector. It is in this context that a Mauritanian business delegation is currently in Algeria to explore possibilities for cooperation and partnership with Algerian companies, particularly in the agricultural equipment industry. This was announced by the Confederation of Algerian Industrialists and Producers (CIPA), which initiated this visit.
During this ten-day visit, which began on Tuesday, a working session was organized between the delegation and the managers and executives of CIPA, headed by its president, Abdelwahab Ziani, to discuss the possibility of exporting to Mauritania agricultural and electrical equipment manufactured in Algeria and intended for dairies, industrial slaughterhouses and animal parks, according to Samira Djafri, advisor to CIPA.
The delegation is composed of representatives of several public and private Mauritanian companies, led by the Deputy Director General of “La Mauritanienne des produits d’élevage”, under the Mauritanian Ministry of Livestock, Teslem Cheikh Bourweiss.
In addition, the Mauritanian delegation is also interested in cooperation with Algerian operators in the fields of packaging and production of livestock feed, animal feed supplements and veterinary medicines, according to Ms. Djafri, who highlighted “the strength and depth of historical, cultural and social relations between Algeria and Mauritania, strengthened in recent years by cooperation in different fields, particularly economic and commercial, with booming exchanges.”
For her part, the Deputy Director General of La Mauritanienne des produits d’élevage stressed the importance of this visit, which aims, she said, to “strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries” and to “allow us to benefit from the great progress recently made by Algeria in several industrial sectors.”
For his part, the Mauritanian expert in fodder crops within “La Mauritanienne des produits d’élevage”, Mohamed El Abdi, said that this visit was an opportunity to visit several Algerian factories and to benefit from Algerian expertise in agricultural industries.
Algerian-Mauritanian cooperation also extends, it should be noted, to several economic aspects, notably through the promotion of Algerian products within the framework of the Algerian Products Fair in Nouakchott, the 6th edition of which was held last May and saw the participation of 183 exhibitors.
In addition to the launch of several joint strategic projects at the beginning of this year, including two fixed border posts, a project to build the road linking Tindouf to Zouerate and a project to build the free trade zone.
