The vocational training sector is committed to playing a leading role in the implementation of the national cybersecurity and digitalization strategy, by adapting its programs to respond to current challenges. This is what Yacine Merabi, Minister of Vocational Training and Education, said.
The minister declared that his sector “intends to contribute to the general policy and the national cybersecurity and digitalization strategy”, at the opening of the work of the national conference on “professional training and the requirements of professions linked to cybersecurity” held last Thursday, under the theme “Training for a secure digital transition”, in the presence of the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Karim Bibi-Triki.
Stressing that this meeting is part of the general policy and the national cybersecurity and digitalization strategy, on which the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, insisted, the minister affirmed that “meeting the challenge of cybersecurity is essentially based on the valorization of the human element equipped with the necessary skills and aware of the delicacy of the mission. He added that the State “takes a particular interest in making a leap in the management of public affairs”.
The minister highlighted the importance of mobilizing his department given the importance of new professions in strengthening IT systems, in light of new developments in the digital field. These developments “require everyone to be vigilant and mobilize all technical means to master the different levels of cyberspace including infrastructure, programs and applications, following a long-term strategy,” he said. – he noted.
To respond to this growing challenge, the professional training sector is committed to providing a qualified workforce in fields related to cybersecurity. A concrete initiative in this direction is the introduction of a new specialty “Systems and networks/option: cybersecurity” in the February 2024 training session, the minister said.
This new specialty aims to train senior technicians capable of securing computer systems, detecting intrusions and responding to cyber incidents. The educational programs have been developed in collaboration with sector experts to guarantee quality training and meet the real needs of the job market.
Merabi also assured his department’s commitment to strengthening existing educational programs to integrate cybersecurity awareness modules and develop technical skills specific to this area. In addition, close collaboration is carried out with companies and public organizations to identify training needs and adapt the courses accordingly.
In addition, he affirmed that the meeting would make it possible to identify the different aspects of professional training and its relationship with the requirements of cybersecurity professions, in order to unify educational programs and training courses by adapting them to the standards quality, to ensure a working environment that encourages innovation and to promote IT, digitalization and telecommunications professions.
The national conference was an opportunity to identify training needs and adapt educational programs accordingly.
