As in every summer season, the National Gendarmerie Command triggers its special plan for beach security, surveillance of tourist complexes and control of the roads leading to the coastal cities of the country. A special draconian security system for summer through which tens of thousands of Gendarmes are enlisted and deployed in the field. In order to create a climate of necessary and absolute security allowing millions of vacationers to spend the summer holidays in a safe environment dominated by peace, stability, health and tranquility, the National Gendarmerie Command (CGN) has developed a special “summer season” plan for this occasion.
Announcing the day before yesterday, Sunday, via an official press release, the entry into force of the special security plan for the “summer season” for the year 2024, the National Gendarmerie Command reported a national mobilization of the security system of the Gendarmes on the roads leading to fourteen coastal towns, but also around tourist complexes to ensure the safety of vacationers and summer visitors who will go to the beaches throughout the summer vacation period, without forgetting the control of forests and antiquities sites.
A special “summer season” plan which will bring together several tens of thousands of gendarmes, from all branches, and which will last for four long months of the current year.
The special plan of the National Gendarmerie includes five main areas to be protected, which are, respectively; surveillance of road networks, the fight against juvenile delinquency on beaches and tourist sites, the fight against crime, the control of commercial activities and finally, proximity work and prevention.
Informing the general public about the implementation of the special plan, the National Gendarmerie Command indicated, the day before yesterday Sunday, that the security system is based on the presence on the ground of its squadron across the roads, in particular those leading to the coastal wilayas, numbering fourteen, in anticipation of the summer season, according to the press release of this security body.
“This plan, which aims to ensure the safety and peace of mind of citizens, is based on the presence of road safety units across the roads falling within the jurisdiction of the National Gendarmerie, which will have a strong presence on the roads, particularly those leading to coastal regions that will experience a high influx of citizens,” the same source said. In this context, adds the National Gendarmerie Command, “the road safety units will raise awareness among drivers in order to prevent traffic accidents and deter traffic violators, with a view to a safe summer without accidents,” reads the said press release.
At the beaches, the special plan of the National Gendarmerie aims to protect vacationers against accidents caused by jet skis and sailing and motor boats, where control operations will be permanent, advises the GN, because the life, health and safety of the citizen is at the top of the priorities of the National Gendarmerie, ensuring the strict application of laws and regulations related to the use of these devices at the beaches and tourist sites. On the other hand, the security system of the National Gendarmerie also provides for the deployment of Brigades for the Protection of Minors at the beaches, places of entertainment and tourist sites, “this to provide advice and guidance to parents and their children,” the CGN said in its press release dated the day before yesterday.
Also, security and investigation teams under the National Gendarmerie Command will carry out patrols at beaches authorized for swimming and those prohibited to deter offenders and anticipate crime. And to further strengthen security around beaches and at tourist complexes, including the surveillance of roads leading to coastal cities, air formations of the National Gendarmerie will also be mobilized “to reinforce units on the ground, in particular to smooth road traffic,” noted the said press release from the National Gendarmerie Command.
