“Digital justice is a collective responsibility and a judicial future”

Justice The Prosecutor General at the Court of Algiers:

The installation, in Algeria, of a “Digital Justice” is a collective responsibility, called, yesterday Monday, the Attorney General at the court of Algiers, Mohamed Kamal Ben Boudiaf on the sidelines of the scientific forum entitled “Electronic litigation as a mechanism to achieve judicial efficiency”. In an opening address to the Scientific Forum, the Attorney General at the Algiers court, Mohamed Kamal Ben Boudiaf, revealed, yesterday Monday, that the Ministry of Justice had issued clear regulatory directives to activate electronic platforms at the level of councils and courts, and had started practical trials in civil cases. “It is now possible for lawyers to create requests electronically and follow their recording in real time, without having to travel or wait,” observed the magistrate of the Algiers public prosecutor’s office. Mohamed Kamal Ben Boudiaf added that this measure, despite the training and adaptation it requires, represents a qualitative change in the philosophy of judicial work, because it brings justice closer to the citizen and gives the public prosecutor and the judiciary an additional tool to rationalize their efforts and achieve efficiency. Still in his speech, the Attorney General at the Court of Algiers indicated that “our subject of the day, electronic litigation as a mechanism for achieving judicial efficiency, is not just a simple reform slogan, but an integrated path sponsored by the Ministry of Justice as part of a strategic vision aimed at reorganizing the judicial system in accordance with the requirements of the digital age, while preserving the essential values of justice, the rights of the defense and the guarantees of a fair trial”, noted Mohamed Kamal Ben Boudiaf. He underlined the importance of this scientific meeting, which comes at a time when the Algerian judicial system is entering a new phase of institutional and technological modernization. The Attorney General added that the main challenge facing the justice system in the modern world is managing judicial delays. The longer the procedures and the complexity of the administrative formalities, the less public confidence in the judicial system, and the heavier the burden on judges and litigants. Concluding his intervention, the Attorney General stressed that digital justice is not a temporary option but rather the future of judicial work in Algeria, and that its success is a collective responsibility that falls to each actor in the legal system, from judges and lawyers to experts and clerks.
