La Palestine au cœur du forum sino-arabe – Le Jeune Indépendant

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, has been in Beijing, China since Tuesday. Charged by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Mr. Attaf will take part in the work of the tenth ministerial meeting of the forum on Sino-Arab cooperation, whose work will open tomorrow.

This meeting takes place in a context of barbaric war and genocide led by Israel against the Palestinian civilian populations. Four Arab heads of state are expected in China. The King of Bahrain, Hamed bin Issa Al Khalifa, the Egyptian Presidents Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi and Tunisian Kaïs Saïed, as well as the President of the Emirates responded to the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, from whom an important opening speech is expected Of the reunion.

For observers, the situation in Gaza is on the agenda and will dominate the work, in addition to certain files relating to commercial cooperation and economic exchanges. Moreover, a “declaration from Beijing” on the Palestinian question is expected at the end of the forum.

China has moved closer to Arab capitals in their support for Palestinian victims. Beijing intends to display “a common voice on the Palestinian issue,” said Deng Li, the Chinese vice minister of Foreign Affairs.

For Wang Huiyao, former adviser to the State Council and president of the Center for China and Globalization (a non-governmental think tank which relays messages from Beijing in the media), “this meeting should contribute to strengthening ties between the Arab world and China, and even beyond. And Chinese support is very important for the Arab states.”

Indeed, Beijing called for a ceasefire in Gaza from the start of the Zionist aggression, considering the West’s unconditional support for Tel Aviv as “hypocrisy” and “double talk”, accusing the States -United to obstruct the path to appeasement.

It should be noted that China is in favor of the two-state solution with El-Quds as the capital of a future Palestinian state, a position which contrasts with that of the American Administration.

Cooperation files will also be on the work program for this session. Arab countries are demanding more Chinese investment in the region and sustainable growth in trade. China has maintained privileged relationships in terms of hydrocarbon imports, being one of the major consumers of energy in the world.

Beijing has increased initiatives with a view to developing its relations with the Arab world. In addition to this forum, which has existed for 20 years, a symposium on Sino-Arab relations and the dialogue of civilizations, a Sino-Arab forum on reform and development, a Sino-Arab urban forum, a conference entrepreneurs or the Sino-Arab Women’s Forum.

Finally, during this visit, Mr. Attaf will meet with his Chinese counterpart, Mr. Wang Wenbin, and will be received by Chinese officials, as part of monitoring the implementation of the important results having crowned the state visit carried out by President Tebboune last July, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
