The organization of summer camps for the benefit of Algerian children established abroad, initiated by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aims to rekindle their attachment to culture, history and national identity, while offering these young people a concrete immersion in today’s Algeria. This was said by Mustapha Hidaoui, Minister of Youth in charge of the Higher Youth Council.
Hidaoui praised this initiative as the fruit of a clear and sincere will of the President of the Republic to consolidate the links with the children of the national community abroad. He said that “this program reflects the great importance that the State attaches to our diaspora, in particular through concrete actions promoting the strengthening of identity and national belonging among the youngest”, during a festive ceremony organized by the International Center for Youth of Sidi Fredj, and this on the eve of the departure of the last group of Algerian children established abroad participating in the summer holiday colonies.
The ceremony was chaired by Mustapha Hidaoui and Soraya Mouloudji, Minister of National Solidarity, Family and the condition of women, in the presence of several official personalities, including representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials of Algerian Muslim scouts, a representative of the Great Mosque in Paris, as well as the Moudjahida Houria Toualeb, witness living witness.
The Minister also stressed that his department, through the National Youth Leisure Agency, had developed a rich program, combining playful, educational and cultural activities. Through this intense stay full of emotions, these young people returned to their roots, taking with them a bit of Algeria in the heart.
Memorable immersion in the land of the ancestors
The children, on the other hand, did not fail to express their deep gratitude for this unique experience which allowed them to rediscover their homeland, to soak up their culture and to make new friends. They addressed their most sincere thanks to the President of the Republic for this generous initiative, which will remain forever engraved in their memories.
Throughout their stay, the young participants had the opportunity to discover emblematic regions of Algeria, to forge friendships with children living in the country and to explore Algerian culture in all its diversity.
Through common, cultural and educational activities, this program has made it possible to cultivate attachment to national values, while promoting open -mindedness and solid roots in history and collective memory. These summer camps have thus made it possible to establish a generational and emotional bridge between Algeria and its expatriate children, reviving in them the feeling of belonging and the love of the country.
By welcoming these young people from abroad, alongside children living in Algeria, the summer camps have helped to break the distances, to forge lasting ties and to strengthen national unity.
In addition, as part of this summer program, the wilaya of Algiers received the day before yesterday the group of children in the diaspora. The welcome was held at the very headquarters of the wilaya, allowing them to discover the heritage architecture of the building, its historical value and its institutional function. This visit represented a civic immersion, giving them an overview of the administrative functioning of the capital, while valuing the history and symbols of the Algerian State.
By leaving Algeria, these children from the diaspora do not only take vacation memories. They leave with images of the country, established friendships, a found language, an appropriate culture but above all a feeling of pride in belonging to a rich, welcoming and deeply rooted nation.
This experience was thus much more than a summer stay. It was a founding stage in the identity construction of these young people and a lasting emotional bridge between them and the homeland.
It should be recalled that under the leadership of President Tebboune, the government had set up a program of summer summer camps welcoming 2,000 children from the Algerian diaspora. This 24 -day stay was distributed in several coastal wilayas such as Oran, Jijel, Béjaïa, Boumerdès and Mostaganem.
