The place of women in the ANP

During the graduation ceremony at the Cherchell Military Academy, chaired on Monday by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, one of the remarkable events was the graduation of the first class of female officer cadets for the benefit of the Land Forces Command who will be directed to exercise at the level of the battle corps.

Army General Said Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army (ANP), explained that this fact reflects “the high degree of professionalism achieved by our Army and the serious preparation of skills among women and men to bear the responsibility of defending the homeland.” It was also a woman, the Major of the 55th promotion of Basic Training, who submitted for approval to the President of the Republic the naming of the promotion in the name of the late Mujahid ”Colonel Youcef El-Khatib”, by presenting a short biography of the deceased.

As a reminder, crowning the annual graduation ceremonies at the ANP training establishments, the President of the Republic, chaired, Monday July 1, 2024, at the Cherchell Military Academy “the late President Houari Boumediene”, the annual graduation ceremony of the 55th promotion of basic training, the 17th promotion of basic common military training and the 8th promotion of officers of the Master cycle.

On this occasion, the Army General, Chief of Staff of the ANP delivered a speech in which he thanked the President of the Republic for supervising the graduation ceremony of the Cherchell Military Academy, coinciding with the festivities commemorating the 62nd anniversary of independence and the recovery of national sovereignty. This training citadel which ensures, like the other training structures of the ANP, the consolidation of the ranks by executives armed with various sciences and knowledge, imbued with nationalist and republican principles and values, aware of the different contexts and changes that the world is experiencing today.

The Army General “highlighted, at the same time, the initiatives taken by our country under the command of the President of the Republic on the diplomatic and military levels to help neighboring countries regain their stability and preserve their territorial and popular unity and which has materialized in particular through aid programs and the granting of educational places at different levels for the benefit of personnel from friendly armies as well as the delivery of humanitarian aid.”
