Of the 400 industrial land bases made available on the digital platform, the investor of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), 240 have already been allocated, and “we, at CREA, consider this as a great achievement,” declared yesterday Wednesday, Mr. Ali Oumellal, general director of this employers’ union of public and private companies. On the sidelines of his intervention in the program “L’hôte de la editorial”, on Algerian Radio , on the airwaves of Chaîne lll, Oumellal stressed that the digital platform in question is “an efficient tool which offers transparency, speed and fairness”. He specified that now, “we have more visibility on existing land through the creation of three agencies each dedicated to a sector, namely the Urban Land Agency, the Tourism Agency and the Industrial Land Agency.” .
For the Director General of CREA, before the new law on economic land, published in the Official Journal in November 2023, this essential tool for any investment which is land, was only managed by regulatory texts scattered through laws of Finance. But since then, the promulgation of this entirely dedicated law, immediately followed by five implementing texts, “the priorities have been clearly defined”. As a reminder, in a press release made public on June 10, the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency revealed that “since the launch of the digital platform for processing economic land applications on February 8, 2024, 248 provisional decisions have been made. The allocations were issued, of which only 63 became final after the beneficiaries completed the registration procedures and subscribed to the specifications. “Eight project leaders withdrew their provisional decisions due to their non-preparation and inability to meet the declared conditions.”
The AAPI had stressed that a project “not receiving the best score is not automatically rejected. In the event of withdrawal or cancellation of the award for non-compliance with declarations or commitments, the project leader with the score will be contacted. The Agency is committed to continuously offering other available land to support the implementation of projects with a positive impact on the national economy, in accordance with the investment priorities defined by the State, it was concluded.
On the other hand, the Director General of AAPI, Omar Rekkache, had recently indicated that many large-scale foreign projects will be carried out in Algeria, particularly in the sectors of agriculture and tourism, taking into account the climate. conducive to the investment enjoyed by the country and the facilitations granted to investors. Invited to the Forum of the daily newspaper ”El Moudjahid”, Mr. Rekkache stressed that the AAPI “is currently negotiating with several large foreign companies for the realization of their projects in Algeria in different sectors, notably agricultural and tourism, which reflects the “improvement of the investment climate enjoyed by the country, as well as the facilitations and advantages it offers to attract these investors”.
