Fertilizer and mineral production, an Algerian priority
New global weapon
“The production of fertilizers and minerals constitutes the new global weapon,” insisted President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during his visit to the wilaya of Constantine last Thursday. He reaffirmed the State’s commitment to strengthening these two vital sectors.
During his meeting with civil society actors at the end of his visit to the wilaya of Constantine last Thursday, the President of the Republic declared, in a speech broadcast by Algerian Television on Sunday evening as part of a special program devoted to this visit, that “Algeria has recently accomplished great achievements in a short time. He announced the upcoming entry into activity of several projects. Despite “the battles and rumors” faced during the first years of the first presidential term, the fact remains that the authors of these maneuvers were not able to stop the march of the new Algeria, he added, stressing that “great achievements have been accomplished in different areas and in a short time”.
“Algeria will experience a real new beginning over the next year which will lead it to a safe and definitive destination.”
The President of the Republic stressed that the economic situation is under control and that all economic indicators are positive, noting that Algeria has not resorted to external debt despite the drop in oil prices on international markets.
“The state has taken precautions in this regard,” he said. In the same vein, the President of the Republic announced that he will travel to the wilaya of Béchar “in a month to chair a historic ceremony on the occasion of the arrival of iron extracted from the Gara Djebilet mine in the wilaya of Béchar via the Tindouf-Béchar mining railway line, for the first time since independence.”
He added that the new railway line, which extends over 1,000 km, was completed in only a year and a half, announcing that another railway line will transport the phosphate to Annaba.
President Tebboune indicated that all the projects carried out will contribute to increasing the value of phosphate production from “2.5 million tonnes annually to 10.5 million tonnes per year”. In this context, the President of the Republic underlined that the new weapon in the world is “the weapon of the production of fertilizers and minerals”, affirming the State’s commitment to strengthening these two important areas. The State is continuing its efforts to increase the rate of integration of the national industry into the mechanical industry, to achieve “the construction of an Algerian vehicle with a rate reaching 40%”, underlined the President of the Republic.
Highlighting the importance of the creation of new industrial zones in Constantine with all the conditions required for attracting investment, which “can only be carried out by ensuring protection and encouragement”, the President of the Republic reaffirmed that the number of investment projects in Algeria is constantly increasing, knowing that there are “more than 17,000 investment projects at the level of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency”.
He also recalled that Algeria was the only State in Africa and the Arab world which grants unemployment benefit, stressing the need to preserve the social character of the State.
Responding to questions from speakers during this meeting, the President of the Republic affirmed the State’s availability to finance any artistic or cultural event initiated by the cultural movement in Constantine, including the organization of a film festival. He said he was firmly convinced of the important role of culture and education in shaping generations.
Regarding the development of the tourism sector in the wilaya, the President of the Republic affirmed that “the mission of the State is to organize the sector and take incentive measures to attract investors”, calling on private operators to exploit the great potential that the wilaya holds to carry out tourism projects worthy of its centuries-old history.
As a reminder, the working and inspection visit carried out on Thursday by President Tebboune to the wilaya of Constantine was marked by the launch and inauguration of vital and strategic projects capable of accelerating the pace of development.
