The Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud expressed, Saturday in Algiers, his recognition for the considerable efforts made daily by Civil Protection agents, highlighting their dedication, loyalty and competence for the security and protection of citizens against all dangers and disasters. “Civil Protection in Algeria is a solid shield guaranteeing the safety of people and property, through a daily commitment reflecting constant availability and continuous preparation through the training and qualification of its personnel, in order to respond immediately and deal with any emergency situation,” he indicated.
Speaking during a graduation ceremony for the benefit of 42 Civil Protection agents, on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious National Liberation Revolution, the minister underlined the high professionalism demonstrated by the members of this corps during the various disasters at the national level, as well as their contribution at the international level within the framework of the humanitarian aid that Algeria is accustomed to providing to friendly countries and their populations.
“The Civil Protection Corps is not only an emergency device intervening in the event of disasters and dangers, but it is an integrated system aimed at the prevention and management of risks recorded daily,” he continued.
Reaffirming the State’s commitment to supporting the security services and the Civil Protection corps in order to guarantee the security and well-being of the citizen, the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport underlined the mobilization of all the means necessary to protect the security and well-being of the citizen, appearing at the center of priorities.
“Thanks to the combined efforts, it is now possible to build a society that is safer and more resilient in the face of challenges, drawing inspiration from the spirit of solidarity and cohesion that characterizes citizens,” added Saïd Sayoud.
Highlighting the permanent concern of the country’s high authorities, headed by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to ensure permanent support and the development of this body, in particular through “the strengthening of its capacities, the modernization of its means and the improvement of coordination mechanisms with its partners, the minister indicated that the budget allocated to Civil Protection increased by nearly 14% within the framework of the 2026 Finance Bill, reflecting the interest that the State grants to this body, to which is added the opening of new budgetary positions.
For his part, the Director General of Civil Protection, Colonel Boualem Bourelaf, indicated that the progress made in terms of training and modernization of the structures of this body, thanks to the interest granted by the high authorities of the country, places us before a heavy responsibility requiring mobilization, constant efforts and continuous improvement of our performances in order to live up to the expectations of citizens and the challenges to come.
The graduation ceremony, reported a press release from the ministry, was part of an exceptional promotion for the benefit of Civil Protection agents who took part in extinguishing last summer’s fires, in the rescue of people who fell into artesian wells in Béchar and Médéa, of another person stuck in a cave in Constantine, as well as in the rescue of a person at sea in Jijel, in addition to their heroic intervention during the accident of a bus that fell in wadi El-Harrach (Algiers).
Noting that at the end of this ceremony, which took place in the presence of the Minister, Wali of the wilaya of Algiers, Mohamed Abdenour Rabehi and the Director General of National Security, Ali Badaoui, the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport was honored.
