La protection civile sur le terrain – Le Jeune Indépendant


In a context marked by an increase in forest fires during the summer season, the Directorate General for Civil Protection has intensified its prevention and struggle efforts. This was indicated by a management press release.

To remain faithful to his commitment to the protection of populations, property and national forest heritage, Colonel Boualem Bourrelaf, Director General of Civil Protection, is currently carrying out a series of working visits through national territory, still according to the same source.

This tour, registered within the framework of the annual program of the General Management, aims to ensure rigorous monitoring of the operational system set up to deal with the risk of fires. Its main objective is to assess the level of preparation of units in the field and to strengthen the coordination of the means committed.

According to the information provided by management, from July 19 to 23, 2025, the director general, accompanied by senior central executives, went to several wilayas of the East, namely El Tarf, Khenchela, Oum El Bouaghi, Constantine and Béjaïa. Civil protection specified that these inspections had made it possible to review the state of mobilization of mobile columns, from reinforcement detachments to forest fire interventions (Driff) as well as air resources specializing in fire extinction.

The inspection mission continues from August 5 to 6, 2025 in the wilayas of Chlef, Relizane and Mascara. On site, Colonel Bourrelaf will supervise the main operational units, coordination centers and advanced positions located in high -risk forest areas.

In the same time, “he will also carry out a detailed verification of technical equipment, including digital fire management platforms, beaches monitoring devices and disaster management systems that will be screened,” said civil protection.

It should be noted that each stage, the same official, “will issue concrete guidelines to local directors and officials, with a view to strengthening reactivity, improving intersectoral coordination and increasing the effectiveness of interventions,” the press release said.

Through this major operation, the Directorate General for Civil Protection wants to reaffirm its flawless commitment for the preservation of the national forest cover. She calls on all citizens to be vigilant, immediately report any departure from fire and scrupulously respect the prevention instructions.
