Back to school 2025/2026 is for September 10
One month before the end of the long holidays, the ministry announces
More than a short month separates us from the official launch of the start of the school year for the year 2025/2026, this is planned and announced both, the day before yesterday, the Ministry of National Education through a press release made public. In this statement from the Ministry of National Education, it is indicated, officially, that the start of school is scheduled for next September 10, while that that of school holidays for the 2025-2026 school year is also announced.
In its press release, the ministry said, the day before yesterday, the start-time school year for all regions of the country is set for Tuesday, August 26, 2025 for administrative staff, while the lessons, the latter will return to their workstations from Sunday September 7, 2025, and finally for students, they will join schools on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, details the newsletter of the Ministry of National Education. Regarding the quarterly examinations calendar, exams of the first quarter will take place from Sunday December 7 to Thursday December 11, 2025, those of the second quarter from Sunday March 8 to Thursday 12 2026, while the third quarter exams are scheduled from Sunday, May 10, 2026.
As for the school holiday calendar for all regions, the fall holidays were set from Tuesday October 28 in the evening to Sunday November 2, 2025 in the morning.
For the winter holidays, they will take place from Thursday, December 18, 2025 in the evening to Sunday January 4, 2026 in the morning. Then, the spring holidays that will start from Thursday March 19, 2026 in the evening to Sunday April 5, 2026 in the morning.
Finally, the summer holidays are planned for teachers (for all 58 wilayas in the country) from Thursday, July 9, 2026 in the evening. For administrative staff: regions 1 and 2 from Thursday, July 23, 2026 in the evening. Region 3: From Thursday, July 16, 2026 in the evening, concluded the press release from the Ministry of National Education. In addition, Minister Mohamed Seghir Saâdaoui who, let us recall, took office at the head of the ministry since November 2024 in place of Abdelhakim Belaabed, is, today, facing his first school year as minister.
A considerable challenge for the new Minister of National Education which has, on the occasion of this colossal event, or even the start of the school year 2025/2026, confirm the choice brought to him by the President of the Republic, enthroned by his know-how in terms of management, development and modernization of the Algerian school.
Back to school 2025/2026 is expected for the Head of State, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, as a synonym of success, innovations, development, modernization and progression in the educational system of National Education.
Aware of this heavy responsibility and this noble mission, the minister is taking a real race against the clock.
Completing several work, inspection and inauguration visits to new schools for the 2025/2026 school year, Saâdaoui has already traveled many wilayas of the country during the past months, or even since taking up its functions at the head of the ministerial department. Just as, it has gathered all the key players who bring together the country’s national education world including unions and national organizations around the great project of the development of the Algerian school.
