La sérénité publique, une priorité majeure

Public serenity, a major priority

Firmness of security services

“Any attack on citizen security and public serenity will be dealt with firmly, ensuring the strict application of the laws of the Republic,” warned the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud.

He affirmed that “the guarantee of public serenity is at the top of the sectoral priorities”, stressing that “support measures will be implemented in order to intensify the security presence, particularly in the perimeters of school and university structures”. These words find their application on the ground. The various security forces are working to develop methods of intervention against this type of crime, whose perpetrators use violence and bladed weapons to terrorize citizens and steal their property.
They are also continuing the fight against drug trafficking, by carrying out raids in several wilayas of the country. The efforts made by the security services to handle these cases brilliantly have been widely praised by citizens, particularly on social networks. With the broadcast of several videos on social networks reporting attacks perpetrated by neighborhood gangs against citizens, the security services are increasing their efforts to arrest the perpetrators of these criminal acts. For example, on Monday night they arrested the man named “Hichem”, one of the criminals who was at the head of a gang in the region of Bousmail (wilaya of Tipasa), involved in an assault case which widely circulated on social networks.
Indeed, this Tuesday, the public prosecutor at the Koléa court announced that the investigating judge at the same court issued committal warrants against ten individuals involved in a case of physical assault and violence against an individual, the video of which was relayed on social networks. The public prosecutor praised “the civic sense and the spirit of citizenship shown by the citizens, through their vigilance and their cooperation with the Gendarmerie and National Security services”. A few days ago, another gang was dismantled in the commune of Birtouta (Algiers) after attacking a citizen. The victim was trapped by one of the members of this gang who had requested a ride via a mobile application. Members of two other gangs were also arrested in the commune of Ain Taya (Algiers) following a violent brawl.
In the wilaya of Blida, a neighborhood gang was also neutralized following a stabbing brawl between its members in a neighborhood in Ouled Slama, sowing fear and panic among residents. These successes of the efforts carried out, in record time, on the ground, by the services of the National Gendarmerie and the National Security in the fight against neighborhood gangs and criminal elements, reflect the determination of the State to ensure strict application of the law and to combat all forms of crime with the aim of ensuring the security and tranquility of citizens as well as preserving property. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed at the opening of the new judicial year 2025-2026 that “true justice is based on rapprochement and positive interaction with citizens, the improvement of services and the fight, with firmness and rigor, against all forms of corruption and crime which threaten the social fabric and confronting them with rigor and firmness”.
