La Sonarem et l’Enseignement supérieur se concertent – Le Jeune Indépendant


In a strategic approach to strengthen links between businesses and the university, the Sonarem mining group welcomed a delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, led by Mohamed Bouhicha, Director General of Scientific Research and Technological Development.

During this meeting, chaired by the CEO of Sonarem, Belkacem Soltani, and in which the executives of the two parties took part, the objective was to explore “the ways and cooperation mechanisms between the Sonarem group, the research centers and the Algerian universities”, it was said in a press release.

The idea is to integrate scientific research into the development of the group’s mining activities and to enhance minerals to increase its added value, support the national economy and promote local development, is specified, adding that Belkacem Soltani presented the group’s strategy it directs for mining development.

The discussions between the two parties notably focused on means of involving research institutions in the implementation of this strategy. In this sense, they addressed “the valuation of minerals such as phosphate, iron, zinc, lead and calcium carbonate, in order to increase its market value”, according to the same source. They also discussed scientific support for the group’s major projects to improve profitability, in addition to enriching research subjects and scientific issues in the mining field, by integrating sector concerns into university research programs.
