The strengthening of Algeria’s economic and commercial cooperation with Canada and Belgium was on the agenda of the meetings which brought together, this Saturday, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, with the ambassadors of the two countries. The agenda of this meeting was the activation of the Bilateral Business Councils.
The Business Councils which were at the center of the discussions constituted an essential tool to boost cooperation between Algeria and its partners. The diplomats each expressed their country’s desire to strengthen the partnership and expand the areas of cooperation.
With the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Algeria, Jean-Jacques Quairiat, the Minister of Foreign Trade examined ways to strengthen economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries, the ministry said in a press release.
The two parties thus discussed the prospects for developing trade and expanding areas of bilateral partnership, taking into account the mutual interest of both parties.
Rezig therefore underlined “Algeria’s desire to consolidate its economic relations with Belgium, considered an important partner”, insisting on the importance of activating the Algerian-Belgian Business Council as a concrete mechanism to strengthen economic partnerships between operators of the two countries. He also mentioned the organization of exhibitions of Algerian products in Belgium and Belgian products in Algeria, in order to raise awareness of the production capacities and cooperation opportunities existing in the two countries.
For his part, Ambassador Jean-Jacques Quariat expressed his country’s desire to strengthen cooperation with Algeria, affirming Belgium’s wish to expand the areas of economic partnership in the service of common interests and for the benefit of both nations.
The strengthening and expansion of areas of economic and commercial cooperation between Algeria and Canada was also on the agenda of the meeting which brought together the minister with the Canadian Ambassador to Algeria, Robin Lynn Wettlaufer.
The two parties examined opportunities for developing trade and diversifying bilateral economic partnerships, with the aim of consolidating the cooperation framework between Algeria and Canada, explained the same source. With Canada, the minister also underlined the importance of the reactivation of the Algerian-Canadian Business Council, as a platform for supporting economic partnerships and promoting joint projects. He also insisted on the organization of fairs and exhibitions of Algerian products in Canada and Canadian products in Algeria, in order to stimulate trade and raise awareness of the economic opportunities offered by the two markets.
For her part, the Canadian ambassador expressed her country’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Algeria, while emphasizing her country’s desire to expand the areas of partnership to achieve common interests and realize fruitful projects for both parties.
