L’Algérie condamne fermement la famine imposée à Gaza – Le Jeune Indépendant

Algeria has strongly denounced the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, accusing the Zionist occupation of implementing a “deliberate” famine and denouncing what it describes as “war of extermination” against the Palestinian people. This was indicated this Saturday, a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This press release comes in the aftermath of a major and unprecedented announcement of the United Nations (UN), which officially declared the state of famine in Gaza. A decision described by Algiers as an extreme gravity “preceding”, the first of its kind in the history of the Palestinian cause and in the whole of the Middle East.

For Algeria, famine is currently raging in Gaza is not the consequence of natural or uncontrollable circumstances, but the result of a premeditated political strategy. According to the press release, this dramatic food crisis follows directly from “practices of the Zionist occupation”, which would aim to support a broader project of depopulation and territorial control, often designated under the name of “Grand Israel”.

“This famine is neither accidental nor foreign to forced displacement projects, reoccupation of Gaza, nor the political design of Israel in the region,” said the text.

Faced with this human tragedy, Algeria calls for the international community, and in particular the United Nations Security Council, to take responsibility for stopping climbing and preventing the total collapse of the two -state solution.

“The preservation of the bases of the two-state solution is essential for any fair, sustainable and final resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” said the press release.

Algeria, which is currently sitting on the Security Council, affirms its desire to continue its diplomatic efforts in favor of the Palestinian people and to work on a quick humanitarian crisis, while reiterating its firm support for the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state, with al-Quds al-charif for capital.

This positioning is part of the continuity of the Algerian policy of unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, whether in international forums, within the Security Council or within the framework of its bilateral relations with other Arab and African states. Algiers intends to continue to mobilize the international community to put an end to that it calls “unprecedented humanitarian disaster”.

As a reminder, the UN officially declared, Friday, August 22, the state of famine in Gaza, the first to touch the Middle East on Friday, August 22, after its experts estimated that 500,000 people were in a catastrophic state. The United Nations Human Rights Head, Volker Türk recalled that “starving people for military purposes is a war crime”.
