L’Algérie en exemple – Le Jeune Indépendant

Algeria has resolutely turned to Africa to develop its business. The integration of the continental African free trade area (ZLECAF) is a choice, or even an obligation which opens even more commercial opportunities with other African countries. Algeria has participated in all meetings and issued numerous proposals related to the organization of the commercial space between the countries of the continent.

This did not fail to be noted by the secretary general of the Zlecaf,, Wamkele Menne, on the occasion of the intra-African trade fair (IATF 2025). To be able to diversify its trade, Algeria has also bet on economic diversification and adoption of an integrated industrial policy. This is also the observation made by the SG of the ZLECAF which qualified the advances of Algeria as “successful model”, reflecting the capacity of African countries to develop effective growth strategies that support continental integration.

Intervening at the opening of the Forum on Trade and Investment in Africa at the Palais des Expositions, Mr. Mene explained that Algeria “has demonstrated the possibility of engaging on the path of economic transformation based on diversification and industry, which is able to strengthen its place in African and international value chains”, stressing that this experience constituted a reference for other African countries in the context of economic integration efforts.

In this context, he praised institutional reforms in Algeria and African countries, affirming that the latter “now have institutions and support organizations able to orient production and trade towards domestic and African markets” allowing to reduce dependence on external markets.
