Sharing the celebration with hundreds of students from different universities across the country, the Head of State immediately paid vibrant tribute to the Algerian student martyrs who fell on the field of honor under the bullets and bombs of the French colonial army. during the glorious War of Liberation.
“I greet you all, it is your birthday and we are here, present, to celebrate National Student Day together in its 68th anniversary.
We must, on this occasion, pay vibrant tribute to the Algerian students who fought bravely against the colonial army. The martyrdom of young Taleb Abderrahmane on May 19, 1956 will forever remain a symbolic date for Algeria.
The choice of Algerian students, at that time, to join the armed path under the control of the General Union of Muslim Students had increased their ardor and their affinity and we have the right to be proud of them on this day, the students are a model for today’s generations and on this occasion I pay tribute to other Algerian students of this era who bravely defied colonialism: Rachid Ammara, Taleb Abderrahmane, Mohamed Seddik Ben Yahia, Belaid Ben Abdesslame and others,” recalled President Tebboune during his speech delivered yesterday at the Sidi Abdallah University Pole. In front of very ambitious students on this student holiday, the Head of State declared his great admiration for the high level to which Algerian academics have reached it, “our conviction in the capacity of our youth is great and limitless , we are convinced that our students have the capacity to control new technologies, I would even say that higher education in Algeria has become a leader in Africa, in the Arab World and beyond even in Latin America,” he will proudly say. Better, the Head of State will say that “today, Algeria’s achievements in the field of higher education do not exist in many countries in the world, an exceptional success of Algeria in of higher education.
Continuing his speech delivered yesterday on the occasion of National Student Day, the country’s First Magistrate declared that Algeria has the first university centers of its kind in Africa, in the Arab world and in Latin America, “it there is a new start in Algeria, unique universities in Artificial Intelligence, Nanotechnology, medicine, Start-ups and many other new specialties. We are the only ones to do it in Africa, in the Arab world and in Latin America and many other countries,” declared President Tebboune.
Further illustrating the colossal efforts of the State for the development of the Algerian university world through the promotion of science, knowledge and modern technologies, President Tebboune spoke in figures, he will say: “Today, we have 115 universities, 30 Research Centers, and we also have more than one million and one hundred thousand students, more than 72,500 university professors and 2,050 university researchers, enormous infrastructures and human resources to which colossal funds have been allocated, including , on this day, we must only be proud of these great achievements and this level to which Algeria has reached,” affirmed the President of the Republic.
Faced with some concerns raised by a panel of students, particularly regarding the insufficiency of university scholarships, the Head of State promises to find a solution. “There are ideas and negotiations to bring the university scholarship to the level of the SNMG,” he reveals.
