Algeria and Germany want to expand cooperation in the hydrocarbon sector

Algeria and Germany want to expand cooperation in the hydrocarbon and mining sector. An Algerian delegation representing the hydrocarbons, mining, energy and renewable energy sectors met, Thursday, in Berlin, the State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy, Frank Wetzel. This was, said a press release from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines, on the sidelines of the international meeting dedicated to the presentation of the progress of the Algeria-Europe Alliance project for green hydrogen “ALTEH2A” and the Southern Hydrogen Corridor “SouthH2 Corridor”. Noting that the Algerian delegation is made up of the CEO of the Sonatrach group, Noureddine Daoudi, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines as well as representatives of the Sonatrach and Sonelgaz groups.
During these discussions, continued the same source, the two parties discussed the reality and prospects of bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Germany in the energy sector, particularly within the framework of the strategic partnership which unites the two countries, underlining the common desire to strengthen this cooperation through the implementation of concrete projects in the economic and energy fields, such as hydrogen and clean energies.
Welcoming the level of cooperation between Sonatrach and German companies, such as VNG and other institutions, as well as the results achieved in energy cooperation projects.
Stressing the importance of extending this cooperation to training, technical assistance and capacity building, in order to improve the transfer of knowledge and the development of modern technologies in the service of energy transition and sustainable development, added the same source, the two parties also highlighted the importance of deepening Algerian-German cooperation in the field of new technologies and renewable energies, as well as Algeria’s desire to strengthen its partnership with Germany through concrete projects and innovative technologies serving common interests and contributing to the achievement of sustainable development and the consolidation of the energy transition.
According to the same source, the two parties also underlined the importance of expanding this cooperation to include the areas of training, technical assistance and capacity building, in order to promote the transfer of knowledge and the development of modern technologies in the service of the energy transition and sustainable development.
And also addressed opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships in the area of ​​application of low-carbon technologies to reduce emissions in the gas sector, as well as the development, transfer and commercialization of green hydrogen.
