Algeria pleads at the UN for direct dialogue between the parties to the conflict

Western Sahara:

Algeria is calling for a direct dialogue between the Polisario Front and Morocco, as the only way to achieve a just and lasting settlement of the conflict in Western Sahara, declared Algeria’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Sofiane Mimouni.

“Only a direct dialogue between the Polisario Front and the Kingdom of Morocco, in a spirit of respect and authentic commitment, could open the way to a real hope of building lasting peace in the region,” affirmed Mr. Mimouni during the general debate of the fourth UN commission in charge of special political questions and decolonization.
