The Palestinian resistance factions in Gaza have launched a “sincere and fraternal” appeal to Algeria to continue to assert its positions of principle in favor of Palestine and to firmly reject any project aimed at calling into question the identity of the strip of the Palestinian enclave.
In a letter addressed to the Al-Mayadeen television channel, the Palestinian factions in Gaza stressed that “Algeria, which has never abandoned Palestine, represents the real hope of our people to counter this project which aims to impose a new occupation of the Gaza Strip under international cover”, affirming that “the Palestinian people see in Algeria the authentic expression of the free popular Arab position, capable of speaking the truth in the face of pressure and diktats”.
The factions active in Gaza, including those of the Hamas movements, Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and popular resistance committees, considered that any foreign intervention in Gaza, whatever its name, constitutes “a violation of our national sovereignty and a continuation of the suffering of our people”, specifying that the only path to security and stability passes through the end of the occupation, the lifting of the blockade and respect for the will and rights of the Palestinian people.
The resistance factions also appealed to all Arab and Islamic countries and all free peoples of the world to oppose this decision, reject any form of foreign rule or interference and defend Gaza’s right to freedom, dignity and independence.
The exit of the Palestinian factions comes as the United States is trying to pass the draft resolution relating to the deployment of international forces in the Gaza Strip within the UN Security Council.
For these factions this project represents “a new attempt to impose another form of occupation on our land and our people, and to legitimize foreign tutelage over the future of our national cause”.
For its part, a responsible source within the leadership of the Hamas movement cited by the same media Palestinian people expected Algeria, as a non-permanent member within the UN Security Council, to adopt an honorable position by rejecting the American draft resolution on international forces.
The source expressed Hamas’ confidence that Algeria will oppose the US draft resolution because of the injustice it represents to the sacrifices and aspirations of the Palestinian people.
According to this official, Hamas indicated that the movement considers Algeria’s expected position as a hope for the Palestinian people to prevent any new international supervision over Gaza.
