“Algeria is built through work and excellence, an Algeria which forges its destiny through the efforts of its daughters and sons, an Algeria which looks to the future with confidence and ambition,” declared Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb on the evening of Monday, during the inauguration of the first edition of the WorldSkills Algeria 2025 National Skills Olympiad at the Miloud-Hadefi Complex in Oran. He wanted to send a tribute full of respect and gratitude to all the teachers, supervisors and trainers who have made professional training a message and a school of life, and who have instilled in young people a love of the profession and respect for work.
The Prime Minister stressed that these Olympics are not limited to a simple competition. They represent a strategic step to develop the vocational training sector, strengthen practical skills and innovation, and enable Algerian youth to actively contribute to the economic and social construction of the country.
Sifi Ghrieb also paid tribute to the teachers, supervisors and trainers who transmit know-how, discipline and passion for the profession, and insisted on the importance of instilling in young people the value of work and respect for the profession. According to him, each trained and competent young person is a force for the national economy and an actor in Algeria’s technological and economic independence.
The event also marks Algeria’s official membership of WorldSkills Africa, consolidating its place in the African and international network of skills and professions. This initiative is part of the strategic vision of the President of the Republic aimed at making professional training a driver of economic and social development.
The ceremony brought together a large ministerial delegation composed of Ibrahim Ouchane, wali of the wilaya of Oran, Saïd Sayoud, Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Nassima Arhab, Minister of Professional Training and Education, Mustapha Hidaoui, Minister of Youth, in charge of the Higher Youth Council, Yacine Mahdi Oualid, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Fishing, and Noureddine Ouaddah, Minister of the Knowledge Economy and Start-ups.
More than 500 young talents from all the wilayas of the country participate in these Olympics, in competitions covering various professions and technical fields. The event constitutes a space for development, exchange of experiences and promotion of professional excellence, illustrating Algeria’s desire to prepare competent and innovative youth, capable of meeting the economic and technological challenges of tomorrow.
Closing his speech, the Prime Minister officially declared the start of the finals of the 2025 Careers Olympiad, recalling that the success of these young people constitutes a guarantee for a prosperous future for Algeria.
