Lancement de 800 nouveaux projets – Le Jeune Indépendant

Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts Mokhtar Didouche announced on Tuesday the launch of 800 new investment projects in the tourism sector across the country.

This announcement was made during the national conference dedicated to the promotion of tourist investment, entitled “Tourist destination Algeria: promotion of investment and improvement of the business climate”, organized in Mostaganem.

In his inaugural speech, Mr. Didouche recalled that more than 2,200 tourism investment projects have been approved so far, including 800 projects, currently under implementation, capable of providing 90,000 beds and creating 45,000 jobs. He stressed that “these initiatives are already in the concrete implementation phase.”

The minister also spoke about the measures taken by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at facilitating the availability of land to accommodate future tourism investment projects.

In addition, he outlined the main availabilities of his sector, stressing that the national hotel offer now has around 1,650 establishments, offering a total of 152,000 beds. However, he noted the urgent need to strengthen and diversify this capacity to reach almost 300,000 beds by 2030.

Furthermore, Mr. Didouche informed the audience that the sector currently has a real estate portfolio comprising 249 classified tourism expansion zones, with 74 tourism development plans already approved. These plans will provide approximately 1,400 real estate units to facilitate new investment projects.

He added that the sector is currently working to make these real estate units available to investors through a digital platform owned by the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency.

The conference organized in Mostaganem aimed to present the new facilities and advantages provided by the recent law on investment, as well as the specific law on the granting of economic properties, considered as a key gateway for any act of investment in the sector.

The symposium, which brought together directors of tourist real estate agencies, investment promoters, financial institutions and regional representatives, was marked by two thematic workshops. The first entitled “Tourist real estate: preparation and investment procedures” and the second “Financing of tourist projects”.

This meeting was an opportunity for participants to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the tourism sector in Algeria, while highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts to encourage an environment favorable to investment in this field.

As a reminder, during these numerous field trips, Mr. Didouche has, each time, insisted on the importance of implementing the strategy aimed at making Algeria a tourist destination par excellence in the Mediterranean Basin. He affirmed that his department works to continually encourage investment in the field of tourism. He added that the national policy in this area is thus based on the development of seaside tourism with its parallel activities, Saharan and Méhari, mountain tourism and thermal tourism as well as the activities that accompany them.
