Authorities for applying the law of China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand launched the 156th joint patrol mission on Tuesday along the Mekong River to combat cross -border crimes.
The operation traded on Tuesday around 9:00 am, when three Chinese laws applying the law left the port of Jingha, in the Chinese province of Yunnan (southwest), marking the start of the coordinated mission.
More than 100 members of the law enforcement staff, as well as seven patrol ships in the four countries, participate in this joint patrol. The mission will include integrated land-water inspections and training in key aquatic areas, targeting cross-border crimes, such as online gambling, telephone and internet fraud, as well as drug production and traffic, in order to maintain the safety of waterways.
During the patrol, the competent law bodies of the four countries will hold an information exchange meeting in Wan Pong, Myanmar, in order to analyze the situation in terms of security in the Lencang-Mékong basin, to discuss information relating to business and to plan the priorities of future cooperation.
The Mekong, known as the Lancang river in China, is a vital navigable track for cross -border transport. China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand have been performing joint patrols on the river since December 2011.
