On an official visit to the wilaya of Sidi Bel Abbès, the Minister of National Solidarity, the Family and the Woman’s condition, Soraya Mouloudji, began this Sunday a series of activities including the official launch of a medical solidarity caravan intended for needy families living in landlocked areas.
Mouloudji said that “the objective of these regularly organized caravans, in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Civil Protection is to provide an immediate response to the needs of vulnerable families and to lighten their daily lives”, specifying that these actions are part of the overall state strategy aimed at bringing together citizens’ assistance devices. A few days before the start of the school year, this initiative is also intended to be additional support intended to guarantee equal opportunities and to prevent precariousness from constituting children’s schooling
The operation, carefully prepared by the national solidarity services in coordination with local cells, priority targets families listed in landlocked areas. The caravan carries a substantial batch of medical equipment, school supplies, wheelchairs for people with specific needs as well as medical equipment and daily care for the elderly. It is accompanied by medical and social teams, responsible for ensuring health and psychological follow -up, in collaboration with health and civil protection services.
The Minister took advantage of this stage to recall the capital decision of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, relating to the care of disadvantaged citizens not socially assured, as well as their minor children placed under their supervision. Affirming that “it is a strong act which reflects the will of the state to build an inclusive social protection system, where each Algerian, regardless of its condition, benefits from preserved support and dignity”.
Tribute to the martyred teachers of Aïn Adden
The second stage of the visit was imbued with emotion and meditation. The minister, surrounded by local and security authorities, went to the commune of Aïn ADDEN where she observed a minute of silence and deposited a wreath at the foot of the commemorative monument dedicated to teachers murdered by terrorism in 1997.
“Collecting in front of the memory of these martyrs is a duty of recognition and honor,” said Mouloudji, recalling that these women, who fell on the field of honor during the black decade, illustrate the bravery and the sacrifice of the Algerian at all stages of national history. She called for transmitting their memory to future generations as a symbol of resistance and fidelity to the homeland. This commemoration is part of the 28ᵉ anniversary of the Aïn Adden massacre, where eleven teachers were cowardly murdered on September 27, 1997.
In Tessaïla, the minister inspected the headquarters which will be transformed into an annex to the National Training Center for Specialized Managers belonging to the National Solidarity Sector. On this occasion, she highlighted the importance of training as a central axis of the 2025-2029 action plan. The objective being improving human resources skills and improving the quality of social services. The Minister said that her department is working to hoist current training centers at the rank of specialized national institutes, in order to meet the new needs of the social sector and to adapt the programs to the evolutionary realities of Algerian society.
The visit continued with a stop at the house of the elderly people of Sidi Bel Abbès. The minister inspected the conditions of care there and welcomed the efforts of the supervisors. Ensuring that “the care of the elders is a moral and societal responsibility which must be assumed collectively”.
It also noted the importance of permanently improving residents’ living spaces through initiatives promoting their well-being. These include the establishment of educational gardens, gardening workshops, animal breeding, as well as suitable recreational activities. Specifying that these projects are part of the implementation of the Madrid plan on aging and in achieving the objectives of sustainable development by 2030.
