A serene return.
The wilaya of Oran gave, this Sunday, the official start of the start of the school year 2025-2026, placed this year under the sign of school health. More than 451,000 students joined the benches of the 952 schools in the wilaya, supervised by a reinforced workforce of more than 4,300 new teachers. This return to school was also marked by the availability of more than 3.3 million textbooks, including 1.37 million distributed free of charge to needy students.
The opening ceremony was chaired by the wali of Oran, Samir Chibani, from the Lycée du Martyr Zaazaa Abdelrahmane in Bir El Djir, a brand new establishment inaugurated and baptized for the occasion. The wali, surrounded by several officials, attended the inaugural lesson held by the ministry, focused this year on school health.
The event also marked the launch of the National School Health Week, scheduled for September 21 to 25, under the slogan: “School health … for a healthy and secure future”.
In his intervention, the director of education of the wilaya of Oran, Abdelkader Oubelaïd, insisted on the preparation work carried out for several months. “The education sector, under the supervision of the Minister and the Wali of Oran, has taken all the measures to ensure the success of this meeting,” he said.
He highlighted the reinforcement of human resources, with more than 4,300 new teachers integrating the sector this year. Among them, 3,170 integrated contract workers, 81 graduates from the School School, 359 newly assigned teachers and 715 recruited on a contractual basis. These reinforcements support their colleagues in order to improve educational supervision in the three teaching cycles.
In terms of teaching means, Mr. Oubelaïd recalled that all schools today have sufficient manuals, with more than 3.3 million copies distributed, adding that 1.37 million were assigned free of charge to the poorest students.
He also pointed out that the first week will be dedicated to educational and preventive activities: balanced nutrition workshops, body hygiene and oralying, as well as awareness-raising sessions of the dangers of addictions to screens and social networks. These actions will be jointly led by teachers, health specialists and psychologists.
Finally, Mr. Oubelaïd addressed his congratulations to the students as well as to the whole educational and administrative body, wishing them a year “full of success and success”, marked by the commitment of all for the well-being of children.
