Larbaoui at the bedside of the wounded.
Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui, accompanied by the Minister of Health, Abdelhak Saïhi, made a visit to the Slimane-Zmirli hospital on Sunday on Sunday to transmit a message of solidarity and compassion, from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to the injured victims of the tragic accident of a bus in the Oued El-Harrach.
The Prime Minister, representing the President of the Republic, first wanted to reassure the wounded and their relatives. He said that “the Head of State expresses his solidarity with the victims and their families, and personally follows the conditions for their care”. Mr. Larbaoui also assured the total mobilization of the State to “guarantee optimal care and put all the resources necessary for the disposal of hospitals”. This visit, beyond its institutional aspect, had a strong human scope. Going to the bedside of the wounded, Mr. Larbaoui wanted to testify to the presence of the highest authorities alongside the victims in these moments of the test. The chief executive also wanted to express his gratitude to the medical and paramedical teams mobilized. Indeed, since Friday evening, doctors, nurses and emergency workers have worked tirelessly. The emergency services were placed on maximum alert to welcome and stabilize the victims. This mobilization made it possible to avoid the worsening of many cases, according to several hospital sources.
Thus, from the first minutes that followed the disaster, the national solidarity machine started. Under the coordination of Prime Minister’s services, civil protection and the Ministry of Health quickly deployed their teams. In Algiers, all hospital structures have been placed on alert. The emergency services, in particular, were mobilized to accommodate the injured without delay, with the support of medical reinforcements recalled in emergency. A monitoring and monitoring unit was also installed at the central hospital pharmacy to guarantee the continuous availability of drugs essential to care.
The services of the Prime Minister had specified in a statement that in application of the instructions of the President of the Republic and in direct coordination with the services of the Prime Minister, the various sectors concerned were mobilized in a coordinated and regular manner, and this from the occurrence of this drama. These include civil protection services and the Ministry of Health, which have taken urgent measures to ensure rapid care of victims and injured, while putting the hospital establishments of Algiers on maximum alert, particularly emergencies, which quickly welcomed the injured specified the same source.
Saïhi reassures the state of hospitalized victims
For his part, the Minister of Health wanted to reassure public opinion, declaring that “the drugs as well as all the necessary therapeutic means are available, and the injured benefit from attentive and permanent follow -up provided by the medical and paramedical teams”.
The minister also indicated that a dozen victims remained under strict observation. “Due to their exposure to polluted waters, some cases require special medical attention,” he said. These patients receive treatments based on therapeutic protocols including the administration of antibiotics, in order to prevent any infectious complications and to accelerate their recovery. This clarification testifies to a vigilance in the face of the health risks linked to the accident, beyond physical injuries directly caused by the fall of the coach. The Minister also noted an often less visible aspect of the commitment of the medical staff, that of psychological support. Explaining that “care is not limited to medical treatment”, he assured that teams specialized in psychological and social support are mobilized with the victims and their families, in order to mitigate the psychological sequelae of such a drama.
At the end of his visit, the Minister of Health reaffirmed that his department would continue to “mobilize all of his human and material resources to ensure the best conditions of care and support”. He also recalled the commitment of the health sector to provide not only medical support but also continuous psychological and social support for the wounded and their loved ones. He finally assured that this mobilization of the State, through its highest officials and its teams on the ground, embodies the will of the President of the Republic to respond, with efficiency and humanity, to a tragedy which will remain engraved in memories for a long time.
