l’ARPCE tire la sonnette d’alarme – Le Jeune Indépendant

The Postal and Electronic Communications Regulatory Authority (ARPCE) warned on Tuesday against the dangers represented by the purchase and use of unapproved terminal devices. This was stated in a press release from ARPCE.

According to the information provided in the press release, the Authority warned of the risks in question, stressing that “this equipment has not passed the necessary tests and does not comply with the technical and regulatory standards in force”.

The ARPCE detailed that the use of unapproved terminal devices could lead to “communication outages at critical moments and make emergency numbers inaccessible”. And added: “This equipment could present compatibility problems with the national networks of operators, thus preventing access to essential services such as the police, Civil Protection or emergency services.”

In addition to deteriorating the quality of communications, these unapproved devices can also expose the user to “potential health risks by exceeding the authorized limits concerning the radiation emitted,” the same source notes.

To guarantee the safety of citizens, the quality of communications and the reliability of terminals on national networks, the ARPCE recommends “checking, before any purchase, that the device has a permanent label indicating +Approved by the ARPCE+ as well as the approval number issued by the Regulatory Authority”, again according to the same source.

It should be noted that “this label constitutes the guarantee that the device is reliable and complies with the conformity tests carried out by the Regulatory Authority”, concluded the press release.
