A boost in the sector.
Algeria is in the process of cleaning up tourism land in order to give a boost to the sector and facilitate the realization of investment projects. This was indicated by the Minister of Tourism and Crafts, Houria Medahi, during her working and inspection visit on Thursday in the wilaya of Tizi Ouzou.
The minister revealed that her sector is taking control of the country’s tourist land by its sanitation which aims to reorganize and clarify the land situation of tourism expansion areas (ZET) in particular. “The objective sought is to energize investment in this sector by facilitating access to land for tourism projects,” she said, stressing that this sanitation affects 78 Zet distributed in 23 wilayas of the country, including Tizi Ouzou with three Zet which are located in Sidi Khelifa (Azeffoun), Tigzirt and the Beach of Feraoun.
It expressed its desire to intensify tourism practice in Algeria by associating other parties with its sector, namely the Ministry of Agriculture. Already in connection with the Ministerial Department of Town Planning, she added that that of agriculture must give its approval as to the exploitation of forest spaces for tourist purposes. It is in this sense that she will submit this proposal to the government, particularly to the Ministry of Agriculture.
Ms. Medahi did not hide her enthusiasm before the considerable advance of tourist activity in Tizi Ouzou, noting that the wilaya remains a model of tourism vision in Algeria for having redesigned the approach. “In Tizi Ouzou, tourism is no longer seasonal tourism but permanent tourism all year round by highlighting all the natural, material and human potentials available to it to offer throughout the year tourist services that allow the region’s economy to develop,” she said upon arrival at the headquarters of the wilaya, after having a presentation of the local director, Amar Salmi.
“Climate station” On the heights of Djurdjura
The visit of Medahi to Tizi Ouzou has targeted three hotel establishments, in this case Tamgout, in the town of Yakouren, Tala Guillef, in the town and daïra of Boghni, and finally that of Amraoua, in the city of Tizi Ouzou. In Yakouren, the first stop, she learned that the hotel will reopen its doors soon, the rate of progress of the work being 95%. After the restoration and expansion work, the Tamgout hotel responds to international standards in this area. In Thala Guilef where the three existing hotel structures, namely the El Arz hotel, the Hotel Village and the lively center, make the “Climate Station” site, satisfaction was also there.
The El Arz hotel has a built area of 6,275.33 m2. Its accommodation and reception capacities consist of 100 rooms and 200 beds. As for its catering, it is 163 covers (163 indoors and 40 on the terrace). The Hotel Village is a frame of 4,755.09 m2, a capacity to accommodate and receive 75 rooms and 231 beds. Its catering is 80 covers. For the lively center, its building is 5,494, 20 m2, its accommodation and reception capacities are 30 rooms and 93 beds. The cutlery are of 198, including 48 on the terrace.
It should be mentioned that stays in this kind of establishment are not within the reach of modest scholarships. The price of a room like a “single” (one bed) is 16,000 DA at night. A room with a pool view is 18,000 DA. A room seen on forest is 20,000 DA. The cost of a suite is 30,000 DA. However, luxury is guaranteed for the customer. At the Hotel Village, even a gym (fitness) is available to it. High -end bodybuilding devices are available there.
Order to meet deadlines
Finally, note that at the Amraoua hotel, still under construction, Houria Medahi was strongly upset due to the slowness of the work. According to the managers of the company in charge of the work, the hotel can only be delivered by next year. “You are required to deliver this hotel by the end of the year!” Take all the means that are necessary and take advantage of the summer season to triple the rate of work! ”, She ordered her interlocutors members of the design office and managers of the company in charge of masonry work, who tried to justify the delay by certain vagaries specific to the building. The Minister is an architect by training, we must recall, and therefore, she knows all the workings of the building profession.
Ms. Medahi also gave order for the Amraoua hotel, whose progress rate is just under 70%, is equipped with local and foreign manufacturing furniture as it was initially planned. “It is unacceptable to favor the product imported to the national product which is of very good quality,” she said vehemently. And for her orders to be executed to the letter, the Minister has instructed the local director of tourism and the crafts to make unexpected visits to the site and share her findings with him.
